Muzhi Liu

PhD student | Political Science, Columbia University

I am a third year PhD student in Political Science at Columbia University, specializing in Political Communication, American Politics, and Comparative Politics.

My research agenda focuses on the intersection of information enviornment, political identity, and behavior. Currently, I am working on two primary threads of inquiry. The first explores how online presence shapes group perceptions and politicized identities, with a focus on the downstream effects on voting behavior. The second examines how remote audiences engage with US political events, analyzing how this "distant witness" shapes their existing political identities and attitudes.

I hold a BA in Political Science from Emory University prior to Columbia.
